-ARCH1101 EXPERIMENT 2 CLIENTS-
STEPHEN WILLIAM HAWKINGS
"I don't think the human race will survive the next thousand years, unless we spread into space. There are too many accidents that can befall life on a single planet. But I'm an optimist. We will reach out to the stars."
Highfield, Roger. "Colonies in space may be our only hope, says Hawking", Daily Telegraph, October 16, 2001.
JANE GOODALL
"Despite having no training as a scientist, Dr Jane Goodall's work amongst the chimpanzees of Africa actually changed the way we view ourselves as human beings. Having helped us to see the world through eyes other than our own, she now wants us to see our future in the same way. With a message of hope in a time of terror" -Andrew Denton
Denton, Andrew. "Interview with Dr Jane Goodall", Andrew Denton Show, Ep. 113, July 24, 2006.
FLORENCE NIGHTINGALE
"In AN AGE which believed that the essence of femininity was to live for others, Florence Nightingale was revered for her sacrifices for the sick and wounded; the real self-sacrifice for her, however, would have been to stay home, marry and lead the life of a wealthy woman.
Nightingale, Florence., Stark, Myra., Macdonald, Cynthia. Cassandra: An Essay (1979), p.3

ARCH1101 WEEK 3 Artist's Studio Works
Patricia Piccinini's "Undivided" (2005) was composed using Silicone, fibreglass, human hair, teddy, bed and linen. Her Postmodern installation work breaks through the traditional notions of what art is and encourages the audience to become part of the work. At first preliminary sketches of her intended plan of her work would be done on paper, then computer software would have been used to reinforce her design. However, like some other postmodern artists, Patricia Piccinini did not fully physically create the work herself, rather it is an collaborative effort. fibreglass would have been used to create the mould for the figures and silicon would have been used to create the skin like texture. Next human hair would be carefully stuck on and the props would have been assembled together with the figures.

The notion of Meditation fits perfectly with my 2 artists' studios (Sidney Nolan and Patricia Piccinini), as my studios explore the ideas of "exisitance" and "tranquility"which is the foundations of meditation . Here is a clip on mediation which directs one to discover their own spiritiuality. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvlI8lvqLRY
