Project 3 Artworks & Gallery Spaces

Style of Art works to be Displayed in Gallery
Suspended and kinetic sculptural installations

The notion of suspension and the play against gravity was a major influence on my design to create a sense of lightness and a sense of floating spaces and elements, as it can be seen from the series of discrete suspended sculptural elements below.

Marvin -Tarpon

The use of balcony spaces and a series of overlooking ramps and stairs allows the viewer to experience a 360 degree view of each sculptural installation piece. This also further creates a sense of suspension as it elongates the experience for the participant as they travel between levels of the building and are allowed to overlook onto the suspended artworks as if they were part of them.

Inspirational building elements

Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas Architects-Foligno Italy Church
The church utilises the notion of structurally sound load bearing walls on the side of the building to create open space in the centre. This has played a role in my design as the gallery also utilises solid load bearing walls of the sandwiched site, along with the use of columns to enable a flexible interior space with flexible partitioning.

Daniel Statham Architects -Harajuku Box House a residential and retail project in Tokyo-

This was an inspirational use of a sandwiched site which extended its facade in line with the rest of the street, rather than setting it back, and utilised the shape of the site well to provide a series of overlapping spaces that had a articulate program structure and circulation paths.
