This gallery does not only facilitate the interaction between the "interactive" sculptural installations. But also celebrates the interaction between the participants inside the art gallery. This can be seen through the interweaving of gallery rooms into the central internal sculptural garden and by the overlapping balcony level floor plates which allow an interaction across the span of the gallery space, which plays an integral role to encourage the interaction between the visitors, making the gallery visit a even more enjoyable experience.
The lighting of the gallery plays a big role in the experience of the building. The lighting of elevated floor plates creates a sense of glowing suspended elements, which carries on from the notions of the artworks depicted. Further more the large suspended balcony levels on each of the floors emphasises this notion of lightness.
The open area on the ground level functions as an interior sculpture garden. This was inspired by the other precedent studies of the garden space infront of art galleries such as the Art Gallery of NSW and other buildings like Louis Kahn's Exeter Library. The notion of a garden experience is transposed into the interior extrance of my sculptural gallery which incorporates the Platonic notion of having a garden to facillitate the transistion between the outside street into the tranquility of the Sculptural Gallery.
